For our Third Annual Mother's Day
Bereavement Ceremony.
We here at VCT have seen a great need
and movement of healing necessary to bring mothers
from all walks of life together in one common bond,
to open the door of healing for the seemingly
hopeless place the loss of our child takes us to.
This ceremony is for the women who feel lost,
overlooked and or misplaced on that One Day a year
when we are reminded we are without our children.
This day is to recognize and to celebrate the love
God placed in your heart the day your child was
placed in your womb.
We have an outpouring need to not only honor woman of
all ages with their gift of Motherhood, but also
honor and give tribute to women who have experienced
the loss of a child no matter the age. Each of our
journeys have been different. Mothers who's
children sufferred from illness, tragedy,
miscarriage, stillborn, suicide and
abortion. Nevertheless, each journey has
led us to this turning point, ready to embrace our
Breakthrough!
I
would like to introduce myself as a Mother who has
experienced that loss. For years I had walked past my
grief keeping it silent or at least trying to
minimalize the pain. Although the loss, I have been
truly blessed to also be the Mother of four
beautiful, healthy growing boys. Each Mother's Day I
am blessed to receive flowers, cards and four of the
biggest hugs a mom could want for and yet I quietly
know there is one card, one hug I am missing. My
husband and I live our life for Jesus Christ and we
trust and believe that losing our daughter was for a
greater purpose, perhaps a purpose I would one day
live to see. My grief has been a roller coaster of
emotions, but it has not destroyed my faith in God
and His plan to heal our loss.
Mother's day of 2005 I was standing in church next to
a woman who had recently joined and gave her heart
back to the Lord. I had yet to meet her, but knew
that she lost her only child to cancer a few years
before. As our pastor gave a warm Mothers day
welcome, her eyes were filled with sadness that only
a mother with this kind of loss can see. I
felt the need to befriend her and to offer the
hope I have found through the relationship I have
through Christ. I saw her talking with the Pastor
after church with such deep sadness, and as they
prayed, I prayed. I didn't know the conversation and
yet I knew it was about her loss. As she was heading
down the aisle, I approached her and listened to her
grief and what this day meant for her.
She expressed how lonely it has been each Mother's
day past. She talked about her morning and how she
felt so lost sitting in service. Seeing the other
Mothers with their children, knowing that she would
never have that Mothers Day celebration again. She
wanted people to continue her son's memory by saying
"Happy Mother's Day" to her. She said that
family and friends forget that on this day she is
still Joshua's mom. She felt there was no place to go
or no church that could recognize her and her son's
continued relationship, a relationship she still
shares. As the result of that dreary hopeless day for
her, we began a friendship that has stitched us
together for life..
This common bond has proven to bring a new chance for
healing, a new chance to draw closer to our Lord
Jesus Christ.. As every step is order by God, I now
know that Sunday morning was ordained for a greater
purpose, a purpose I now can see. A purpose and need
for ministry to every mother who knows about that
common bond shared on that Mother's Day morning. This
ministry provides hope and purpose to weave us
together in love and celebration through Christ
Jesus.
If you too feel lost as she did and your basket of
hope is empty, perhaps full of sadness or anger,
feeling as though there is no place to begin the
healing process that God wants for your life; please
know there is a place for you!
Please join us and know
There is a place for you!
